Junior Section | Captain's Report

I consider it a great privilege to be Captain of 1st Ballyclare Boys' Brigade Company. Having come through the Company myself it is safe to say that B.B. is in my blood and the work of this Company is especially important to me. So what makes our Company so good? I think that the answer to this question can be broken down into 3 parts.

  1. We have a vision that God will work through our Company to bring boys and young men to a personal relationship with Him.
  2. We have a staff that are committed to giving our boys the best programme that we can, so we can challenge our boys with the gospel by what we say in our Bible class and how we live out our own Christian lives.
  3. We have a great bunch of boys with an enthusiasm for life, a commitment to our Company and a willingness to make our Company a good one.

When you read this you may think we are perfect, but I can assure you we are a long way from that. We lose good boys who have grown away from the Company and developed other interests, we have boys who are a continual challenge week by week with regards to discipline, but they keep coming back.

Our parade nights are a mixture of fun and challenge and the hope that in some small way each week, we as BB Officers have influenced our boys not only with the gospel but with those other great characteristics from our object, obedience, reverence, discipline, self respect and all that tends towards true Christian manliness.

I have met many men who have fond memories of Boys' Brigade. I have yet to meet anyone who has anything bad to say about this great organisation and I believe the work that Boys' Brigade does today is just as important as it was when Sir William Alexander Smith started it over a century ago. There is no other organisation that will prepare boys for life better than Boys' Brigade and for that reason I want to see every boy have the opportunity to reach his full potential through this organisation.

Thank you for taking time to look at our web site, I trust you have found it informative.
